Ian White’s working papers were donated to Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, New York in 2019, where they are now available for researchers.
Although White was always ambivalent about archiving and the fetishisation of artists’ ephemera (he once wrote a text called ‘I Am Not An Archive’), he kept a fastidious archive of his own work. His papers included elements of artworks, working notes from his performances, research for curatorial projects, and drafts of his writing.
The material at Bard also includes sketchbooks and notebooks, documentation of performances, teaching materials, notes for talks and lectures, publicity materials for curatorial projects, and much more.
